Banned Book Club: Last Night at the Telegraph Club

Landing at #4 on Pen America’s 2025 Banned Books List, Malinda Lo’s 2021 novel follows 17 year old Lily Hu. Living in 1954 Chinatown, Hu must balance red scare paranoia and her own burgeoning queer identity. In Lo’s response to the book bans, the author asks us to consider why this book ousted other long standing titles and what book bans ultimately mean for art and for our society.
